Preschool Programs

mcpc-preschoolOur program offers up to 3 years of preschool starting at two and a half years old. The Preschool and Pre-K classrooms are partnered with Kalamazoo County Ready 4’s (KCR4s) and Great Start Readiness Program (GSRP), offering additional resources and support to help your child succeed! Preschoolers, ages 3 and up, also have access to the Preprimary Evaluation Team (PET) through KRESA.

All classrooms utilize the Creative Curriculum and the Ages & Stages Questionnaire (ASQs). ASQs are a developmental screener used to document and track your child’s developmental progress. The questionnaire is completed by our trained staff and is used for understanding a child’s growth in various areas such as communication, gross and fine motor, problems solving, and personal-social skills.

Each classroom has a daily schedule to guide the regular rhythms of the day. Teachers plan small and large group learning based on the current developmental stages and goals for the children in their care. In addition to ASQs, our classroom teams meet with parents twice a year to discuss your child’s progress and identify any additional support needs.

Preschool 2.5

Preschool 2.5 is for kids just getting out of toddlers. This classroom primarily focuses on transitioning out of the toddler stages. We provide a fine balance of giving kids autonomy and doing things individually while continuing to provide assistance as developmentally needed.

Preschool

Preschool is for 3 to 4 year olds in their first year of preschool. In this room they focus on developing independent skills and classroom behavior. Here, we focus on understanding feelings and emotions, how they interact with others, and how we can navigate and communicate those feelings!

Pre-K

Our Pre-K room is a certified GSRP classroom! Offered for ages 4 and up, this program focuses on classroom skills and introduces classroom structure to prepare them for kindergarten. This includes an introduction into reading, writing, and general learning skills to expose kids to a more education-focused environment. The GSRP program hours are 8:00am to 3:00pm, Monday through Thursday, and 8:00am to 12:00pm on Fridays. Additional childcare hours are available for GSRP out of school times.
